Hernan Cortes Epistle to Saint Iosephus Ferrarius

Dearest Brother Iosephus, I come to you with these letters to ask you to come to me with a translation of the golden plate which was given to me during my last journey through New World.

As you know, you have the ability to complete the same translation, as long as you know about these things that have been given to you by any means, in this case, I beg you on my behalf to make this translation, if. you can.

What you ask of me is that I acquired these crafts from the inhabitants of New Spain, and the neighboring nations have an equal share of each of them, but they told me they were corrupted, whence they gave the name [Popol Vuh]. but he had not translated anything, there is nothing to be translated from now on, because of the gentile word, that the text should be corrupts.
